Gathering at Thanksgiving has long been a family tradition, first in Greensboro but later at other locales until the camp was built in 1943 on the Ochlocknee River, in Tate's Hell, Florida. It was a “men only” hunting and fishing camp except for Thanksgiving Day when the families would bring the dinner—and be welcomed by a smelly group of hungry grimy outdoorsmen. The only running water was in the river or creek, no electricity or indoor sanitary facilities. The original building was slowly added to and now includes 63 beds and many modern amenities.

Thanksgiving became the time of year EVERYONE got together there. Various friends and in-laws have been welcomed guests. Now it is the time and place for the annual family reunion; hunting and fishing have become secondary concerns.

OUR GOAL
Promote the "Camp" within the family as a place we can all use any time, hoping that increased attention will lead to increased contributions to maintain and improve it for future generations.
